Sacramento’s DOCO Entertainment District Gets 10mm LED Video Board
Farmers Branch, TX / October 23, 2020
Located adjacent to Golden 1 Center, DOCO is an entertainment and lifestyle district in Sacramento’s dynamic Downtown area. Just steps away from the State Capitol and Old Town Waterfront, DOCO is the heart of the city and the hub of many pedestrian-friendly community activities. Shopping, dining and entertainment spaces make this a one of a kind venue. As the entertainment district continues to expand, Southpaw Live was selected to add a 47’H x 34’W LED video screen to the exterior of 630 K Street. Installation of the project started in early October and final testing and commission are now complete. Additional improvements to the DOCO area include continued redevelopment of the 100, 700, and 800 blocks of K street, and expanding the convention center.
Southpaw’s VP of Projects, Damon Gaffney, commented on the importance of selecting a quality LED provider. “Southpaw has a long history of serving venues in the live and entertainment space. As with many of our installs in these types of spaces, screens often require 24hr operation and are located in ‘zero fail’ environments. Our customers rely on us to deliver a product that requires little to no maintenance or upkeep, as well a product they know will work consistently to deliver a superb viewing experience for their customers.”
Southpaw’s project manager for the installation, Brian Bertsch, added “We are certainly not new to this game; the K Street project is similar in size and scope many of our Las Vegas installs – all of which have performed flawlessly. We look forward to years of great viewing experiences for the customers and fans at this location.” The screen is being installed on the exterior of 630 K Street welcoming customers and fans to the entire DOCO area and along the David J. Stern walkway. Brian finished by saying “The technology included on this project is second-to-none. The screen pitch is 10mm that will deliver a sharp picture capable of displaying over 281 trillion colors. With 16-bit processing and a Navori graphics system the screen can show live events, pre-programmed content, or advertisements to give the customer a source of revenue generation. It also has a viewing angle of nearly 180 degrees, a feature that is pretty rare in this industry”.
